Awards & Reviews
If you want an affordable modular PSU, out of 4 options, the OCZ Silencer Mk III 400W is the best choice based on the test results. Both Be Quiet and OCZ’s entry are very quiet, have a very low ripple and are more than 85 percent efficient. We prefer the OCZ power supply due to the better voltages and slightly lower price.
Producing very little noise and equipped with long wires we recommend the Silencer Mk III 600W.
Thanks to its white design and black ribbon modular cable management the Silencer MK III is a real eye catcher. The performance is absolutely perfect for a power supply within this price range. Direct competition for this power supply is virtually nonexistent. The best deal is this PC Power & Cooling power supply - the price/performance ratio is just right!
The Silencer Mk III 600W is one of the best power supplies we have tested to date. Technically this unit is very well balanced; it was able to handle our intensive tests without any problems.
Xtreme Hardware (Italy)
We are very satisfied with the MK III Silencer 400W from PC Power & Cooling. We really liked the white finish, modularity, and performance. This power supply simply cannot fail to satisfy you. Commendable is the presence of Japanese capacitors certificates to 105 ° C, a rarity in a 400W model. Excellent is also the +12 V rail which allow the use of fairly powerful video cards, such as the HD 6850. In addition the efficiency is very good and it even comes with a remarkably high warranty of 5 years.
The Silencer MKIII is a very solid and affordable power supply. At only half the cost of the Seasonic X-560 it offers the best value for money out of all the power supplies that we tested today. Next to semi modular cable managements it also has two 6+2 PCI-Express and a comprehensive 5 year warranty. In our opinion this is the best power supply within 630–800W range.
El Chapuzas Informatico (Spain)
The Silencer MK III looks great with its white/black design. The quality of the weld seams is outstanding. This PSU is able to stand out through the high material of which it is comprised, the built quality, and the great performance. The MK III gets our El Chapuzas Informatico Gold Award.

Starting from the efficiency which is pretty good especially at ultra low loads, also voltage regulation at +12V is very tight. With variations within 1% and on the low voltage rails it is not bad at all, especially for this class of PSU. In general I think that the small, new, Silencer is worthy of the legendary name of PC Power & Cooling with the performance is has displayed today.
HD Blog (Italy)
The modular Silencer MK3 500W PSU immediately draws the attention to itself through its white and artistic design. A lot of care has been put into this product by using of high quality components (suitable for operation up to 50 ° C) which result in a good efficiency with well over 85%. The Silencer MK3 500W is available at a very reasonable price. We can therefore recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an affordable midrange power supply. It is more than sufficient for using a graphics card and an additional PCIe component.

Power supply veteran, PC Power & Cooling has expanded its range with an efficient, Bronze Certified range. The new MKIII Series are semi-modular and have a very nice design. This model also uses the popular flat ribbon cables which have proven to be exceptionally flexible. As expected, the 400W model that we tested performed very well in our benchmarks and positions itself in the top of its class. With a fan that is rarely perceived, even at a high load, we can safely say that the MKIII 400W is a silent power supply. The voltages remained very stable with only marginal variations between idle and full load. Due to its superior performance and affordable price we give the MKIII our Gold and Price-Performance award.
Technic 3D (Germany)
The 500W Silencer MK III is a perfect modular midrange power supply with reasonable price-performance ratio. Even at full load the 120mm fan is barely noticeable, doing justice to its name. It is only in the unlikely event of an overload that a slight noise might be heard. During our benchmarks the PC Power and Cooling Silence MK III displayed stable results that were well within the norms. Because of the positive impact that it left behind we give our Value and Silver award to this power supply.
"The Mk III Silencer performs very stable. The quality of this Mk III Silencer is above the standards and it’s really recommended. "
Louis Hirschmann (Germany)
The Silencer MK3 III is a good power supply. Externally, the PSU scores with its white paint, as white power supplies are quite rare. There are plenty of cables that have a nice length, and the modular cabling system ensures an efficient and convenient installation. We would also like to note that The Silencer MK III is made with high-quality components such as the primary capacitor. Because of its 80+ Bronze certification the Silencer MK III is more than capable of competing in its range on efficiency. The reasonable price and features make it earn our Gold award.
Under every testing, this 80+ Bronze Certificated Mk III Silencer performs fairly stable and quality is decent. It’s very silent when it’s working.
PC Pop (China)
This Silencer MK III performs excellently, is very stable in working and also very quiet.

Firstly the stability is remarkable, the deltas are among the lowest on our board, in the first test the result is without a doubt the best and it also is among the best in the second test. The power consumption is also very favorable as it is once again among the best results in the round up. Because of its stability and level of power consumption, we recommend the Silencer MK III.

From a performance standpoint, it has excellent voltage regulation and noise suppression, easily handling everything we tossed at it, even when mildly overloaded. With a retail price of only $90 USD, the MK III Silencer 600W is very well matched against other units in this power range that don't look nearly as smart, or generally don't perform nearly as well. Considering this power supply is backed by a strong 5 year warranty and an impeccable pedigree, the great price is simply an exclamation point on what is an impressive overall power supply.
Ever since their founding, PC Power & Cooling has been a company traditionally committed to high quality and the Silencer Mk III 600W power supply is a worthy continuer of the company’s reputation. The company designed this unit very well, choosing very good quality components and, with Seasonic being the OEM behind this particular product, the power supply is also extremely well assembled. The Silencer Mk III 600W unit also had one of the most thorough filtering stages we have ever seen.
Silencer is one of the best options and as such a worth buying PSU.

As its name suggests, the Silencer Mk III 600W couldn't be any more silent during normal operation. The Silencer Mk III 600W is a fine mid-range power supply for approximately $70 after mail in rebate at press time. Really, it is a performance bargain. At the end of the day, what is there to complain about a cool looking white power supply with the performance to boot?
The Mk III series delivers as promised good stability and comes with a modular design. Next to that the traditional single 12 Volts rail has been preserved and granted, it comes with much improved looks. Efficiency wise the PSU delivers as promised, no remarks there. So let me round it up. The Mk III series is a great looking power supply with a modular design. We love the big 12V rails, the exceptional build quality and appreciate the fact that this PSU is very stable as a result of that. It's a top quality PSU with a decent 80+ Bronze efficiency that won't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase, as such it comes recommended.

The Silencer MKIII is a very competitive power supply in this price segment. It offers high quality manufacturing, a strong five year warranty and excellent performance. The Silencer MKIII also offers some notable improvements over the older MKII, such as the use of a modular cable design, improved noise levels and slight price drop. The Silencer MKIII is also very energy efficient with it's 80 PLUS Bronze certification.
As the tests reveal the Silencer MKIII 600W is another good testament to the high build standards PC Power and Cooling are renowned for. In present times one of the most important aspects to look at is the efficiency of the power supply and the MKIII does not fall short of their claim of 80 Plus Bronze rating. Even on full load of our gaming rig, the MKIII 600W was able to maintain 80% efficiency rating with ease. Real World Labs
I've never actually used or tested a PC Power & Cooling power supply unit which was less than excellent so i don't really have bad things to say about them. I can't really say I’ve seen any 600W PSU to feature the same rock solid rails as the Silencer MK III 600W. On top of that add the fact that we managed to overload the unit by a full 17% and i think you are getting the picture. Bottom line the Silencer MK III 600W is an excellent power supply unit for a person who can make due with 600W and that’s why we are awarding it with our Editors Real Choice Award.
The Silencer MK III 600W has achieved the high standards we would expect from a PC Power & Cooling product, which in itself is no mean feat. The internal design is also exemplary with a high level of attention to detail and we always like to see 105c rated Chemi Con capacitors incorporated into a design.Noise suppression is fantastic. The power supply held load regulation well and cross load stability was not a problem. Efficiency is also without question, achieving almost 87 percent efficiency at 50 percent load, very impressive for an 80 Plus Bronze rated unit.
Voltage regulation was excellent, with all positive voltages closer to their nominal values than necessary. The PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 600 W provided extremely low ripple and noise levels during all tests. The new PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 600 W is a very good unit. This unit is being sold for USD 90, but if you live in the United States, you can get a USD 20 mail-in rebate, making its final price USD 70, which is an outstanding price for this power supply. Also, at USD 90 it is still cheaper than its main competitors.
The claim that this unit can deliver its full power even at 50°C ambient is absolutely true since we conducted the full load test at 50.4°C and the PSU worked flawlessly. Finally at low-middle loads even at high ambient the fan is almost inaudible but at higher loads it makes its presence well felt. Such a price is very good for a modular 600W unit of this performance which is manufactured by Seasonic and uses quality components like Japan caps. Overall the PC Power & Cooling MK3S600 performed well and managed to work flawlessly even at very high ambient temperatures registering at the same time good efficiency (for its 80 PLUS certification) and ultra low ripple on all rails. The semi-modular design, the flat modular cables and the five year warranty are the cherry on top.
Everything is well within specification…clearly this power supply has superior +12V regulation. We did meet our 80 Plus Bronze expectations. All 105°C rated Chemi-Con capacitors are used, the unit is rated to run continuously up to 50°C and ran perfectly fine under our own 37°C conditions. Given the fact that this is a semi-modular power supply and is 80 Plus Bronze, that's a pretty decent price. Build quality was really good and this unit will easily out last the 5 year warranty provided by OCZ. Ripple's within spec and what we saw during the rise-time is within spec and would have no ill effect on your computer.
Starting off with the build quality and design of the Silencer Mk3 we have a unit which delivers in all the important areas. Inside the quality remains high with branded, high spec components such as the 105°C Japanese capacitors. The stand out performance aspect is noise level though with this PSU remaining very quiet at all times. Added to this is a 5-year warranty which gives us confidence that the PSU will outlive the majority of components in our system. Those looking for a midrange PSU which offers good electrical performance and low noise operation need look no further than the Silencer Mk 3.
